About Us
In today’s complex and uncertain world, our community faces significant mental health challenges, particularly affecting our sons, brothers, and fathers.
As a not-for-profit organisation, Stand Tall Wales is dedicated to alleviating the burden of poor mental health and well-being in Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan.
Our core values—connection, resilience, and growth—guide our mission to provide a unique approach that ensures men in our community have a place to learn, grow, and find a sense of belonging.
Through our programs, we aim to foster a supportive community where men can connect, build resilience, and take positive steps toward better health and wellbeing.

What do we do
At Stand Tall Wales, we offer ongoing Strength and Wellbeing sessions designed for men in Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan who want to improve their mental health and overall wellbeing.
We’ve moved away from our previous 8-week course and are now running ongoing sessions to provide continued support and connection.
- Monday evenings: We host meet-ups to discuss range of topics related to health and wellbeing. These sessions draw on evidence-based tools, latest psychoeducation and techniques, to help men build resilience and enhance their mental health.
- Wednesday evenings: We meet at the gym for group workouts tailored to all abilities, focusing on building strength, fitness, and confidence through a variety of gym-based activities.
These sessions are designed to foster a supportive community where men can connect, grow stronger, and take positive steps toward better wellbeing.
As well as our Strength and Wellbeing Sessions, join us for our Stand Tall Sit Downs.

How we do it
Onboarding
- We welcome new members through engaging group activities and skill development sessions, fostering a supportive environment from the start. All our services are free, ensuring that financial barriers never hinder your journey to well-being.
Ongoing
- Members enjoy continuous access to our programs at no cost, ensuring they always have a place within our community. We believe that money should never be a barrier to looking after yourself. Voluntary donations are welcomed from those who can afford to contribute.
Outreach
- We extend our impact by sharing knowledge through presentations, conferences, and social media, reaching a wider audience to promote mental health and well-being. Our commitment is to provide these resources freely, upholding our ethos that financial constraints should not impede access to support.
